2025 U.S. News Survey: How Senior Communities Combat Loneliness and Boost Health

Americans are living longer than ever, thanks to advancements in medical treatments, preventive healthcare, and public health initiatives. This upward trend in lifespan is expected to continue, with the U.S. Census Bureau projecting that by 2060, the average life expectancy in the United States will rise to 85.6 years.

However, longevity alone isn’t the goal, says Sandy Markwood, CEO of USAging. She emphasizes that it’s about enhancing the quality of life, ensuring that those additional years are filled with purpose, dignity, and fulfillment.

“What’s essential in achieving this is maintaining strong social connections,” Markwood explains. “These relationships play a key role in recognizing and valuing the talents, knowledge, and contributions individuals make throughout their lives.”
